New Principal Announced!

Ms. Stefan will retire at the end of the school year after 25 years as principal of La Joya School. Ms. Stefan was honored on May 18, 2012 in a special ceremony in which the La Joya Library was dedicated to her.  The new Mary Stefan Library at La Joya School is located directly across the street from the James Stefan School, which was named after her father.  The ceremony was attended by all of the students, current staff, friends & family members. Her dedication to the students of La Joya School will not be forgotten.

As we say good bye to Ms. Stefan we also want to welcome our new principal, Dr. Donna Smith, to our La Joya family.  Dr. Smith will take over the leadership of La Joya School early this summer.  Dr. Smith has an extensive background in education and we are excited to start this new chapter with her.

The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012.  Class lists will be posted in the school windows on Friday, August 3rd.  Don't forget to keep reading and have a great summer!  We are looking forward to seeing you in August!

August 8, 2012  (Wednesday) First Day of School

AM Kindergarten  8:00 a.m.  – 11:20 p.m.
PM Kindergarten 11:20 a.m.  –   2:40 p.m.
First – Fifth Grades  8:25 a.m.  –   2:40 p.m.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

 Registration is conducted at each school site. Parents must bring the following: 

1.) TWO PROOFS OF RESIDENCY  within the boundaries of Santa Rita Union School District P.G. & E. bill, water bill, mortgage or rent statement confirming your current address, rental or lease agreement.  (Bank statements, Dr. bills, or Misc. bills are not accepted as proof of residence.)
2.) IMMUNIZATION RECORD  The State of California also requires proof of a physical exam for all first grade students and a oral health exam for kindergarten students.  For admittance to school the student’s immunizations must be current.

3.) BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Students who will be returning to the same school that they attended last year, do not need to register for the current school year. For further specifics on registering your child, please call the school office at 443-7216.

Class lists will be posted in the windows of the school office the Friday before school begins.
